2012 Alumni Reunion Calendar
We have tentatively scheduled the reunions for the upcoming year.
The dates are as follows:
Class of 1987: January 27 and 28, 2012
Class of 1977: March 2 and 3, 2012
Class of 1997: March 30 and 31, 2012
Class of 1982: April 20 and 21, 2012
Class of 1972: April 27 and 28, 2012
Class of 2002: May 11 and 12, 2012
Class of 1962: May 25 and 26, 2012
Friday night - Stag night
Saturday - Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation in the Student
Center followed by a reception for family members
Class of 1957: June 15 and 16, 2012
Class of 1992: June 29 and 30, 2012
Class of 2007: July 28, 2012 (Stag night only)
Class of 1967: August 3 and 4, 2012
The traditional format is a stag "guys only" night on Friday, and a couple function at a local restaurant on Saturday night. The stag night will be held on the HC campus.
We will send correspondence to every alumnus approximately 2 months prior to your reunion. Please contact Gloria Sykes in the Alumni Office to ensure that your address is up to date. Please feel free to share this email with your classmates, especially the ones that we may not have current contact information.
Remember, these dates are tentative. Please wait until you receive your reunion registration information before finalizing any travel plans.

Dear Holy Cross Family,
As the holiday season approaches, it is hard to realize that the semester break is already upon us. Our fifth graders are doing well as they begin a new life experience and learn what it means to become a Holy Cross Man. Students in all grade levels are working hard academically, new course offerings are going extremely well, and the students are involved with many activities and projects.
Our beloved founder, Blessed Basil Moreau, CSC, dedicated his life to service for others. As Christmas is an occasion to share our blessings, in the tradition of Father Moreau, I am proud that our students have given so generously of their time and talent doing service projects for those in need at this time of year. Our coat, blanket, toy, book, and food drives get bigger and better each year because of the selfless giving of so many in our HC family.
As we count our blessings this Christmas, I thank our HC parents for entrusting us with your sons to educate in mind, heart, body, and soul. I thank our administration, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends for all you are and all you do.
Myra and I extend our warmest wishes to our Holy Cross family. May each and every one of you enjoy the spirit of Christmas ~ peace, the miracle of Christmas ~ hope, and the heart of Christmas ~ love.

Alumni President’s Article
On behalf of the Alumni Association, I would like to wish each of you a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year’s. While it is important to reflect on our past, I find we should put a greater emphasis on our future. It is truly through the blessings of God that our school has risen from total devastation and now serves as a beacon for Catholic education, not just in New Orleans, but throughout the United States. Each of us has received the gift of an amazing legacy, and we are blessed to be able to help continue that gift for future generations.
We cannot do this without you. Please join us in supporting the school with your time, talents, or financial resources. All are important and are greatly needed. Make plans to participate in alumni functions throughout the year by coming to your reunion, join us for the Fishing Rodeo, participate in the Golf Tournament, and have some fun with us at the HC vs. Jesuit Tailgate party. Bring your family to campus and join us for Family Day, and make arrangements to support your alma mater financially.
In a letter that was sent to every Holy Cross Alumnus the words were written: Every Holy Cross Man must stand up and be counted – right now – if we believe that our alma mater is ready to go to the next level. I’m convinced we are ready – and I also know that the only way we will get there is by standing together as Holy Cross Men and letting the world know we still believe:
• that the world needs “refined gentlemen” who are men of “faith and honesty,”
• that the “practice of manly virtue and piety” still matters, and
• that Holy Cross is poised to become the preeminent school serving young men in our community.
I believe those words ring true today as much as they ever did!

Holy Cross Holiday Luncheon:
Make plans now to join us for the Holiday Luncheon on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at The Roosevelt Hotel. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The cost is $45.00 per person. There will be a Silent Auction, Parade of Prizes, Raffles, 50/50 Drawing, great food and fun fellowship!

Holy Cross Alumnus of the Year Dinner and Celebration:
The Alumnus of the Year Award Banquet celebrating the life of The Reverend Monsignor Robert D. Massett ’55 will be held on January 14, 2012. Antoine’s Restaurant, located at 713 Rue Saint Louis in New Orleans, will host the event. Seating is limited, so sign up early. There will be a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

Alumni and Friends Vegas Trip:
Holy Cross Men from around the country are travelling to Las Vegas to cheer on our Wrestling Team and enjoy a long weekend in the lights of Vegas.
If you are interested in making the trip, contact Patricia Norman or Tony Enterante at Holy Cross School (504) 598-5200. There is a $50.00 reservation fee to secure your spot on the trip. You will be responsible for planning flight reservations and travel arrangements to and from the airport. If you need assistance with travel, we will gladly recommend agents. Rooms have been held from Thursday, December 15, 2011-Monday, December 19, 2011 at Caesar’s Palace for $79.00 per night. Once you’re in Vegas, here’s the plan:
We’ll follow the Wrestling Tigers as they compete in the 2011 Las Vegas Holiday Classic. This national wrestling tournament will feature over 100 schools from around the country. RSVP with Patricia Norman or Tony Enterante at Holy Cross School (504) 598-5200 to reserve tickets for the tournament. Tickets and shuttle to the tournament are compliments of the Holy Cross School Alumni Association.
Headmaster, Charles DiGange’64, will host a reception on Friday, December 16, 2011. There is no charge for the reception, but please RSVP with Patricia Norman or Tony Enterante at Holy Cross School (504) 598-5200 to confirm your attendance.
If you plan on staying through Sunday, join us for a “dutch” treat WHO DAT party as we watch the Saints take on the Minnesota Vikings. Once we secure a location, we’ll pass on the details.
We would love for you to join us for this great Las Vegas excursion. The trip promises to be an awesome time filled with fun, fellowship, and wrestling!
Alumni Chapter Update:
This year we have started Alumni Chapters in Dallas, Texas, Lafayette, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are gearing up to start Alumni Chapters in New York, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia. When added to the Chapters that are meeting in Houston, Texas, and on the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain, This will bring us to a total of seven chapters started in the last year and a half. Welcome New Tiger Cub!
A big HC Tiger welcome to Brielle Dennis. Brielle was born on July 28, 2011. She was 6 lbs. and 18 inches long at birth. She is the son of Michelle Dennis and Lee “Allen” Dennis ’90.

Tigers in the News:
Congratulations to Casey Hunnicutt ’05 who was recently elected to the office of St. Bernard Parish Councilman representing District D. He received 61% of the vote in the run-off election on November 19th, and will be sworn into office on January 10, 2012.
